Flood mud, tilts and squeaks

Day 1 at the ranch was not what I expected. The was a flood a few days before I got here and a lot of the ranch was destroyed. Even one of the staff's house was trashed as well a some bridges and fences. So we spent the day bleaching chairs, bed frames, tables, dressers, etc. and cleaning up the mud that was everywhere. (Still is everywhere really.) It was really cool to see the staff, that I don't even know that well yet, rally together and get dirty to try and save what they could from the buildings with water damage. There were a lot of volunteers here today, and more coming later this week, to pitch in and help and businesses are donating stuff. It is awesome to see that there are so many people who love and support this place and want to see it succeed. It gives me a good feeling about this place. Speaking of this place... it tilts. I'm not joking. Almost every building I have been in so far has a door that won't hang right or a floor that "waves" to you! It is too funny. I'll post a video later of my tilting dresser. There are many things here that squeak too, like the doors and the floors and the handles on the sinks... too cool. I am going to like this place.

Funny sayings of today:
Matt: ohhh yeah rule #1 guys, leave the buffalo alone.

Matt: one of our interns has a frohawk.
Beth: what is a frohawk?
Taco: a mohawk out of black people hair
(yes, taco has a frohawk)

Taco: lets go to the store and get some new sticks...
